Ingredients for Cabbage and Ground Beef
- 1 small cabbage
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes with liquid
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp olive or cooking oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions for making Cabbage and Ground Beef
Chop cabbage into bite size pieces
If using oil, heat in a large skillet. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
Season with salt and pepper. Remove the beef and set aside, leaving some of the drippings in the pan
In the same pan, add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Add the chopped cabbage to the pan and stir well to combine with the onions and garlic. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage begins to soften.
Return the cooked ground beef to the pan. Pour in the diced tomatoes (including the liquid) and stir to combine. Season with smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), and additional salt and pepper to taste.
Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and the flavors are well blended.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot. This dish pairs wonderfully with crusty bread, rice, or as a standalone low-carb meal.
