Ingredients for Healthier Layered savoy cabbage
- 1 medium savoy cabbage
- 400 g turkey mince
- 120 g cooked rice
- 500 ml greek yoghurt
- 1 large onion diced
- 3 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 tbsp paprika
- salt and freshly ground pepper
- chopped parsley
- 1 tbsp smoked garlic and herb, chicken seasoning
- grated cheese (optional)
Cooking Instructions for making Healthier Layered savoy cabbage
Remove each of the cabbage leaves, and cut out the harder middle part from the larger leaves. In a large pan simmer the leaves in salted water for 5-10 minutes, strain and set aside.
Saute the finely chopped onion and crushed garlic in a little oil until lightly soft, add paprika, turkey, cooked rice, herbs and seasonings, mix well and let it cook for a 5 minutes.
Spray a little oil to the bottom of a small to medium sized oven dish then lay it with 1/3 of the cooked cabbage leaves. Cover the leaves with the minced meat and rice mixture, add another layer of cabbage leaves pour 1/2 of the yoghurt and another layer of meat mixture on top. Finally the last layer of leaves then yoghurt, I sprinkled some grated cheese (optional.) Bake for 35-40 minutes on 200c.
Once it is baked let it rest for 10-15 minutes before serving, serve with sour cream if desired.
