Ingredients for Vegetable yam aka “ji agworoagwo”
- 4 ring yam
- Green vegetable (alefo)
- Ugba
- Pepper
- Onion
- Palmoil
- Dry Prawns(optional)
- Smoked fish (optional)
- Crayfish
- Maggi
- Salt to taste
Cooking Instructions for making Vegetable yam aka “ji agworoagwo”
Firstly cut ur yam in ring (round)sizes then proceed to cutting dem in cube or bite sizes of your choice, wash and add to a clean pot with water to cook add a bit of salt to taste
Cut ur vegetable,wash and leave in a sieve to drain, pound or roughly blend ur pepper, crayfish and little onion set aside, also chop onion and set aside, wash ur dry prawns n soak in hot water to soften a bit, debone n wash ur smoked fish I used kpanla dou,
When the yam is properly cooked and ready to eat, put off d heat drain the water out in a sieve, then pick out 3piece and mash it to help us mix the vegetable n the yam since there is no liquid added when making it
Get a clean pot add palmoil, allow to heat up a while den add some of ur onion stir for 2-3min so that onion can release its flavor, then add ur pepper mix,smoked fish,ugba, dry prawns,maggi and a bit of salt..keep stirring to avoid it from burning.
Then add ur mashed yam and finally the start of the dish vegetable stir properly on low heat then finally add the boiled yam then adjust for salt and food is ready
